Religious groups in Laos are beginning to mobilize to assist unexploded ordnance survivors. Religions for Peace, Norwegian Church Aid and Lao Buddhism for Development are developing a 2-year plan to assist survivors in the three provinces of Khammoun, Xieng Khouang and Savannakhet.

During a trip to southern Laos I met many people whose lives continue to be shaped by the millions of cluster bombs that were dropped during the war. Their stories are similar to the stories of survivors that I heard in Laos more than 25 years ago.

On November 2, 2010, Legacies of War convened a meeting of non-governmental organizations in Laos who receive U.S. government funding for UXO-related work.
