At the launch of NRA’s Vision into Action plan, we were privileged to see a performance of a traditional Lao “mor lam” song accompanied by the national Lao instrument, the khene, a multi-pipe mouth organ. This is a familiar sound in Laos, but this mor lam had a difference: the words were all about the dangers of scrap metal collection in the countryside. We were all impressed by the entertaining way in which the performer conveyed very complex information like the failure rate of cluster bombs dropped decades ago.
