Since the end of the war, unexploded ordnance in Laos has claimed 20,000 victims, many of them children. Estimates put the number of remaining UXO in Laos at 80 million.
Clearing these deadly remnants of war is a moral imperative: Farmers should not be risking their lives to sow their fields. Legacies of War has been a tremendous advocate for the people of Laos and a great partner for me in Congress. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue to work to fund UXO removal programs. Together, we can bring an end to this awful legacy.
